Bugging Out!

One of the things I didn't mind leaving in Ohio were the bugs, although we made it here with several cicadas in our front car grills and throughout the moving truck. I thought we left that all behind us, but found out the hard way this summer that we hadn't. Sadly, since we had nothing but the landscape natural to this area(weeds) this summer, Abbey's favorite pastime these past few months was catching grasshoppers. She kept them in a cage and fed them greens I had bought for the rabbit. Yes, she actually fed the pests food I paid for! Anyway, one morning we found this in our driveway and Abbey thought she hit the insect jackpot. Gross!!!

Oh Brother!

Warning: For those of you who remember my younger, chubby cheeked brother with dimples, you are in for a big surprise.  Yes, the following picture is sweet little Josh, yes, he grew up and yes, he plays with guns. He graduated from BYU this past spring in Microbiology and had joined the military a couple of years ago. He's now going into bio-terrorism or something and was accepted into training for the elite, special forces group known as the green berets. Well, this is what we've gathered with the bits  and pieces of information we were able squeeze out of him. He's a bit mum about the whole thing, so this is the story I'm sticking to until I get complete disclosure from the man himself.  He left for North Carolina last month and we were all so sad to see him go. The kids were heartbroken and so was Paul, in fact, I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do with Paul now that he is home so much.....well, I do actually have quite a few projects lined up for him and with football season starting soon, I'm not sure if he'll get any of those done. Well, we miss you Josh. We'll see many movies  and shoot many targets and think of you training-so intensely. Game nights just aren't the same.

Sadly, we lost another uncle this month to the college up north. No, not the red college. More north. All the way to Logan. Not quite as far as North Carolina, but too far to kick a ball around with the kids and come to movie and game nights on the weekends. So study hard Jared and visit when you can because it's just us and the parents-good times as always ;)

More Summer Fun

During the weekend of the 24th of July, we ventured down to Loa to visit Paul's brother, Mike and his family and we got a bonus visit because our friends from Midvale, the Tuileta's,  were down there as well. The kids had so much fun and were very disappointed we didn't spend the night. We'll need to plan ahead a little better next time. We thought it was going to be hot, so the kids came prepared with swimsuit's ready for a water fight, but it clouded up, cooled down and rained a bit, which was nice, but we had kind of wanted to go to Fish Lake, so we'll have to plan another trip down there soon.

Cousin Maddie and Asher on the playground. They were having the funniest little 2 and 3 year conversation while they played. I'm not sure what they were saying, but they understood every word.

As a side note, Abbey shot her first gun while on this little trip. I was not thrilled, but with Paul as her father, I knew I would have to give into Mr. NRA sooner or later.
